A Minimalist Guide to High Bay LED Lighting

There is nothing easy about properly lighting up a new space, especially if it is a vast commercial space with high ceilings.

Every type of space has specific requirements, and there is a bunch of different criteria that will determine the optimal lighting solution. For example, the height of the ceiling, the size of the place, how the place will be used, how many people will be working there, the level of illumination needed, and so on.

When it comes to large structures featuring ceiling heights ranging from twenty to forty-five feet, the industry is largely dominated by high bay LED lighting. Nowadays, almost by default, factories, warehouses, and shop floors, use this type of lighting.

Reasons why business owners prefer high bay LED lighting

  • High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamps and Metal Halide (MH) lamps were the preferred high bay lighting solution for many years in the past. However, compared to LED lighting, they are three times less effective, and they need up to 75% more electricity.
  • Switching LED lamps are relatively easy, straightforward, and fast. As a result, there is no need for the production process to stop or close the shop while the LEDs are being retrofitted.
  • LED lighting can provide a powerful illumination, which is critical for optimal productivity and safety. Furthermore, the light is praised for both its continuity and consistency.
  • LED lighting quite affordable than the present time, and prices are predicted to go even lower in the future. Their long lifespan, energy efficiency, and consistency make it obvious why they are the preferred choice.
  • The LEDs emit very little heat.
  • Foot Candle is a term used to describe the amount of light that reaches the surface area in relation to the gross amount of light originating from the source. In this regard, LEDs are by far the most effective lighting solution on the market. On average, their efficiency is above 50 lumens/watt.
  • LEDs are very shock-resistant, and that’s because they are solid-state lights (SSLs). SSLs can’t be easily damaged with physical shocks.
  • There is no warm-up time with LEDs. They reach their maximum level of brightness almost instantly.
  • They work perfectly in all normal working temperatures, both outdoor and indoor. They can withstand temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees and as high as 100 degrees celsius.
  • LEDs come with a warranty that may span from five to ten years.

The future of high bay LED lighting

If we take a look at the lighting industry, the current level of innovation, as well as some of the projects in development, it all revolves around the LED technology. There isn’t anything new on the horizon that might disturb their dominance in the future as everyone works on their improvement. There aren’t any records of anyone trying to bring to light some new technology that will compete with LEDs.

We are more likely to see a new generation of LEDs with even more superior characteristics and far lower prices in the upcoming years. But until the new generation comes to market, check out the ones sold at xsylights.com.
